Care
6 min read
Delicate garments last longest when care is gentle, regular and unhurried. A few simple habits go a long way.

Read the label, then use judgement
Care labels are the starting point. Beyond them, common sense helps: treat fine fabrics gently, avoid heat and friction, and act quickly when something goes wrong.
Wear, then rest
Letting a garment rest between wears allows fibres to recover and odours to fade, often removing the need to wash at all. Hang it somewhere airy, away from direct sun.
Store with care
Padded or wide-shouldered hangers help dresses keep their shape. Fold knits rather than hanging them, and give delicate pieces room so they are not crushed.
Spot treat and repair early
Small marks and loose threads are easier to deal with early. Blot rather than rub, and ask a specialist if you are unsure.
Know when to ask for help
For anything precious or complex, a specialist cleaner or a trusted tailor is worth the visit. Good care is an investment in the life of a garment.
